FOREWORD
Few books have so successfully combined the power of poetic verse with
thebeauty of aerial photography as Sabre The Journey. The author, formerly
a fighter/test pilot in the United States Air Force, is a man whose literary
retreat was destined to become the solitary cockpit of his aircraft.
His writing embodies the idea of man and machine joining together, not
to conquer the sky, but to become one with it in an extraordinary journey of
the human spirit, one that probes for answers to questions as timeless as the
universe. Who are we, where are we going, and why?
He humbly acknowledges the debt owed his "old friends." Indeed, they
made the realization of his personal quest possible. Nonetheless, it is man,
with his bold dreams and boundless imagination, that drives our journey
through space and time. The reader should be prepared to share in the
personal odyssey of a man so in harmony with the world of flight it
became his living poem, a poem that sends our spirits soaring on the
wings of his words.
